Split Rock Life

“He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.”

Psalm 78:15

Split Rock Life - Residential Discipleship & Life-Formation Program

A residential discipleship and life-formation program designed to help men rebuild their lives through discipline, instruction, and obedience.

Our Mission

The Journey of Every Healthy Man

The journey of every healthy man follows the biblical pattern of leaving Egypt, passing through the wilderness, and entering the promised land.

01

Egypt

Life of Bondage

Represents a life of bondage to sin—drugs, alcohol, pornography, violence, laziness, fear, and any pattern that holds a man in captivity.

02

The Wilderness

Season of Formation

A place of cleansing from former ways of life and a time of discipline, instruction, and responsibility. Here, a man learns how to live rightly—before God, within himself, and among other men.

03

The Promised Land

Restored Life

A restored life marked by peace, stability, health, and right relationships—with God, family, and community. Not merely a place of arrival, but a life built and maintained through principles learned in the wilderness.

The Rock at Horeb

The name Split Rock Life refers to the rock at Horeb in the wilderness, where God provided living water. In that place, removed from their former life, the people were sustained, instructed, and prepared to become a free people able to walk in the promises of God.

The program is built on the belief that men are formed through challenge, guidance, and responsibility, and that this is best accomplished in an environment that is set apart from their former patterns so they can focus on transformation.

“Life is a craft that must be learned.”

The Program

Residential Structure

Each house functions as a small community of men learning to live responsibly together while undergoing formation.

Residential Living

Men live in small residential communities called Houses. Each house accommodates approximately twelve men, creating an environment of brotherhood and accountability.

The Forge

A dedicated activities center for instruction, training, fellowship, and development. Physical strength, endurance, and self-control are treated as part of the formation of the men.

Group Development

Structured discussions, accountability meetings, and peer development sessions allow men to process challenges together and reinforce the standards of the program.

Community Kitchen

Shared meals foster connectedness, brotherhood, and community among the men as they learn to live responsibly together.

Our Houses

Each house is given a place-style name to feel like a real place rather than a program unit, helping men develop a sense of connection and responsibility to the community where they live.

Formation Structure

The Builder's Path

Just as a builder learns through apprenticeship, responsibility, correction, and the guidance of experienced craftsmen, men grow through structured leadership, personal discipline, brotherhood, and service to others.

Christ

The Owner

Christ is the Rock and the Foundation. The Owner sets the objectives and directs the work through the Holy Spirit. All authority, structure, truth, and restoration within Split Rock Life ultimately flows from Him.

Program Director

The GC

Responsible for the vision, structure, and leadership development of the entire program. Trains and develops foremen and superintendents, maintains the standards, and ensures the long-term health and direction of Split Rock Life.

Senior Leaders

Superintendents

A senior leader responsible for the health and operation of multiple houses. Superintendents support and supervise foremen, maintain consistency across houses, and assist in the development of future leaders.

House Leaders

Foremen

A journeyman who has been entrusted with leadership responsibility. The foreman leads the house, maintains order, supports the development of the men under his care, and ensures that the standards of the program are followed.

Stable Members

Journeymen

A man who has developed stability and understanding within the program. Journeymen continue their own growth while assisting apprentices and helping reinforce the standards of the house.

Entry Level

Apprentices

The entry level of the program. An apprentice is a man learning the foundations of discipline, responsibility, and trust. Apprentices are under instruction and are focused on rebuilding their lives.
